Tara 1. The Hill of Tara was an ancient royal site in Co. Meath, where the high kings of Gaelic Ireland held their feasts. Now not much more than earthworks and a superb view remain. 2. loyalist terrorist group which, though small, committed some of the worst atrocities of the Troubles in Northern Ireland during the 1970s. 3. home of Scarlett O'Hara in the film Gone with the Wind (1939).
